Back in 2000 when I started trying to keep a note on restoring the game, I kept this diary. This is the original entries.

Since May, there has been a lot of interest in my game. There is another online review at Keep It Retro. by The Dave. He also kindly transcribed the original instructions into Word 97 format, which can be found in the Downloads Sections

Well it’s been a little while - I’ve finished at Plymouth University, and I am now am awaiting for my final degree classification. In the meantime, I’ve moved back to Cornwall, had a long break. But I’ve found and scanned the original instructions on the web for all to use.

As you can see, I’ve not done anything on restoring Moonbase Beta - as I have my final year to worry about! I will try to put some time into it during June/July, after I finish my finals.
9th September 2000
Went back home to Cornwall, and found all the disc’s for Moonbase Beta, and nearly all the documents! Now here is the tricky bit, getting it all off the 5 and a quarter inch discs to my PC…somehow.

Back in Plymouth for my final year at University, at some point I’m going to dig out all the stuff for Moonbase Beta and see if I can restore all the graphics, source code, and documentation.

Been spending my time scouting the net for any possible clues to how it got onto the net (Not that I mind) But I found a review of the game at the 8BS site. Seems the game was slated for Play it Again Sam 19, which looks like it never got released. And yes I do have to agree 100% with the need for shades!

I was playing the game, and realised I was not dying. Turns out someone has hacked the code, to give you infinite energy. Can’t say I blame them, it’s damm hard, even for me! Thankfully the author of the cheat left the source code on the disc image, so un-fixing the cheat should be easy - err no..
Anyway, unless I turned off the cheat mode in compiling final version, all you had to do was hold down the keys P-B-H on the key definition screen, to turn it on!

I found an image of the game on the BBC Lives site, much to my astonishment and joy - this has made my day!
