Australian FF1GP weekend

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

14:03 Qualifying day - Well the 1st Grand Prix weekend has been full of controversy, and we have not even got to the actual race!

First things, is the diffusers on the Brawn’s, Williams and Toyota’s cars. 3 of the teams lodged a protest about the design, saying the designs wasn’t legal.

The stewards threw the protests out, saying the diffusers are legal. However, the teams making a protest have appealed. The appeal will be heard in Paris in about 2 week’s time on the April 14th.

This does have an effect on the results for the 1st two rounds of the 2009 FF1GP seasons. It means the results will be provisional. What happens in 2 weeks time is anyone’s guess.

Also the 2 Toyotas have been thrown out of Qualifying for having excessively flexible wings. As far as FF1GP is concerned, their starting positions will be taken from their original qualifying positions of 6th and 8th, however they will not be awarded any Qualifying points.

More news will follow after the race. The 1st round of FF1GP results is expected to be up late in the afternoon on Sunday (UK time)

15:30 Race Day - Well what a race! Jenson Button and Brawn wins the Australian Grand Prix! If you was up at 6am this morning like me, then I bet you was on the edge of your seat.

However there was some more controversy with Toyota. Jarno Trulli overtook Lewis Hamilton when the safety car was out. The stewards investigated the incident, and gave Jarno a 25 second penalty, which dropped him down to 12th.

Finally a special mention goes to Sebastien Buemi who started 13th, and drove smoothly and confidently to finish 7th… and that means (Amusingly) that Toro Rosso have beaten Red bull yet again, although a lot of that could be blamed on Sebastian Vettel!

The 2009 FF1GP season is now open

Welcome to the 2009 Fantasy Formula 1 Grand Prix Season. Back a little later than planned mainly due to Honda taking their time to sell the team to Ross Brawn.

I am please to see Honda surviving on in the new name of Brawn GP. And if you want to have the Brawn GP team in your FF1GP team, you can at a nice low figure of 4million!

The rules for Fantasy Formula 1 have not changed much this year. The only major change is the budget for teams, which has dropped from 34 million to 32 million - yes even FF1GP is not immune from the credit crunch.

Some of the regular visitors will have spotted the site has had a little makeover for 2009. I hope you like the changes. The biggest change is the front page, which will have the latest news from FF1GP and also it has the latest news from a selection of F1 news sites. At the moment only ITV-F1 and BBC are shown, but it is planned to allow you to customise the news feed so you can view the latest news from your favourite F1 news sites.

Also the code is now running within my own new PHP5 framework. As the season goes along, the older code will be migrated to match the code style and standards. It is the goal of this update to allow you to look at previous seasons.

Enjoy the FF1GP 2009 season!
