On the plus side, got the old unused IDE 200gig drive in, and installed Ubuntu 9.10 on it. #
In the end I managed to get enough life out of the old SATA controller to install the new SATA drivers. #
Surgery complete on PC - Windows 7 boots now. Usual Windows problem when you change controller cards. Total FAIL due to missing drivers. #
Ok Windows 7 is “attempting repairs” #
Ok got a replacement SATA controller. The drives are back, but Windows 7 won’t boot. #
Grr looks like the SATA controller on my main PC has gone. The old IDE interface still works, so I can at least boot something. #
Chippenham - No snow, a few flakes when I left for work this morning. Very cold mind. #fb #
